Several wonderworking icons in Greece and Cyprus bear this name, honoured for healings granted through the prayers of the Mother of God. She is shown holding the Christ Child, a reminder that all healing of soul and body comes from him. The icon is often kept near those who are ill, or given to doctors and nurses, and many pray before it at the feast of the Dormition on 15 August. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
