The Ascension of Christ into Heaven
The Ascension completes Christ's earthly ministry: on the Mount of Olives He was taken up into heaven, promising the Holy Spirit and His return in glory. The icon shows Christ enthroned in a mandorla borne by angels, while below the Theotokos stands calm at the centre among the apostles and two angels in white. The feast falls on the Thursday forty days after Pascha. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel with a gold foil background.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Gold Foil with Gilding Effect on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
