About the icon
A Miracle of The Lord
The Gospel of John tells how Christ met a man blind from birth, made clay with His spittle, anointed his eyes and told him to wash in the pool of Siloam; the man washed and came back seeing. The miracle reveals Christ as the Light of the world. The icon shows the Lord touching the man's eyes and, often, the man washing at the pool. It is celebrated on the Sunday of the Blind Man. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
