A Miracle of The Lord
The Gospel of John tells of a man who lay by the pool of Bethesda for thirty-eight years with no one to help him into the water. Christ asked if he wished to be healed, then commanded him to rise, take up his bed and walk, and he was made well. The icon shows the Lord blessing the man, who carries his bed away. It is celebrated on the Sunday of the Paralytic. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
