About the icon
The Neighborly Love
Told in the Gospel of Luke in answer to the question 'Who is my neighbour?', the parable is read in Orthodox churches on the eighth Sunday of Luke, in November. A traveller is attacked by robbers; a priest and a Levite pass by, but a Samaritan binds his wounds with oil and wine and brings him to an inn. The Church Fathers saw Christ Himself in the Samaritan, and icons often give him Christ's features. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
