About the icon
The Return to the Father of The Repentant Son
Christ's parable in the Gospel of Luke tells of a younger son who wastes his inheritance in a far country, comes to himself in hunger and returns home to ask for a servant's place. His father sees him from afar, runs to embrace him and restores him with a robe, a ring and a feast. The Church reads it on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, the second Sunday of the Triodion, as Great Lent approaches. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.

Each icon is made to order. The preparation time is shown next to the price, and you receive the receipt and tracking details by email when your icon ships.
Hang the icon from the mounting point on its back, away from direct sunlight, radiators and damp walls. Gold leaf and painted colours keep best in steady, dry conditions.
Dust it gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth. Never use water, sprays or cleaning products on the gold or the painted surface.
After a thorough quality inspection, your icon is placed in its black luxury icon case and secured with durable protective materials for the journey.
