The Meeting of the Lord in the Temple
The feast of the Meeting of the Lord, Hypapante in Greek, is kept on 2 February. Following the Law, the Theotokos and Joseph bring the infant Jesus to the Temple with an offering of two turtledoves. Symeon, who had been promised he would not die before seeing the Messiah, takes the Child in his arms, and the prophetess Anna gives thanks. The icon is often associated with the churching of a mother and child on the fortieth day. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel with a gold foil background.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Gold Foil with Gilding Effect on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
