The Meeting of the Lord in the Temple
The feast of the Meeting of the Lord, Hypapante in Greek, is kept on 2 February. Following the Law, the Theotokos and Joseph bring the infant Jesus to the Temple with an offering of two turtledoves. Symeon, who had been promised he would not die before seeing the Messiah, takes the Child in his arms, and the prophetess Anna gives thanks. The icon is often associated with the churching of a mother and child on the fortieth day. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a framed panel, its background laid by hand in 22k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Premium Museum Standards Technique.
Once the wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 22 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface. Finally the icon is placed into a wooden frame with protecting glass resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
