About the icon
The Fiery Ascent in a chariot of fire
The Second Book of Kings tells how Elijah and his disciple Elisha crossed the Jordan together, when a chariot and horses of fire parted them and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. The icon shows the prophet rising in the fiery chariot as he lets his mantle fall to Elisha, who had asked for a double portion of his spirit. The Church remembers Elijah on 20 July as one who did not taste death. This Gallery Print reproduces the icon on a flat panel with an aged gold foil finish.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Gold Foil Print Technique.
Once the wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the theme with the Gold Foil background, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
