About the icon
The Thesbite and Zealot for God
Elijah prophesied in Israel in the days of King Ahab, opposing the worship of Baal. Fed by ravens in the wilderness, he called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel and was later carried up in a chariot of fire, leaving his mantle to Elisha. He appeared with Moses at the Transfiguration. Commemorated on 20 July, he is shown with a long white beard and a mantle of sheepskin, often in his cave with the raven. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a carved panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
