About the icon
The Confessor & Defender of Orthodoxy in America
Born in what is now Slovakia and ordained a Greek Catholic priest, Father Alexis came to Minneapolis in 1889. Rejected by the local Roman Catholic archbishop, he returned with his parish to Orthodoxy in 1891 and spent the rest of his life preaching among immigrant communities, many of which followed him. He reposed in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1909, was glorified in 1994 and is commemorated on 7 May. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel, its background laid by hand in pure silver leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Pure Silver Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
