About the icon
Bishop of Hankou
Having fled Russia during the Civil War, Bishop Jonah settled in Manchuria among thousands of destitute refugees. In only a few years he founded an orphanage, a school and a free kitchen, and visited the poor and sick himself. He reposed young in 1925, and soon afterwards he is said to have appeared to a paralysed boy, who was healed. He was glorified in 1996 and is commemorated on 7 October. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel, its background laid by hand in pure silver leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Pure Silver Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
