About the icon
The Virgin Martyr
Orphaned young, Anastasia was brought up by the abbess Sophia in a women's monastery near Rome. During the persecution of the third century she was brought before the authorities, refused offers of marriage and wealth in exchange for renouncing Christ, and was tortured and beheaded. She is commemorated on 29 October and should not be confused with Saint Anastasia the Deliverer from Poisons, honoured on 22 December. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a flat panel with a deep blue background.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Premium Museum Standards Technique.
Once the wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously proceed to the theme application, which is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
