About the icon
The Equal to the Apostles and Enlightener of Rus
Princess Olga governed Kievan Rus' after the death of her husband, Prince Igor, and was baptised in Constantinople in the tenth century. Her faith bore fruit in her grandson, Saint Vladimir, who led the baptism of Rus'. Icons show her crowned and robed as a princess, holding a cross. She is commemorated on 11 July, and her icon is often given on the name days of those called Olga. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a carved panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
