About the icon
The Apostle and Enlightener to the Irish
Born in Roman Britain, Patrick was carried off to Ireland as a youth and kept as a slave, and there he turned to prayer. After escaping, he returned in the fifth century as a bishop and spent his life preaching, baptising and founding churches. His Confession, written in his own words, survives. He is commemorated on 17 March, and the Orthodox Church honours him among the saints of the undivided Church. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in 18k gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 18 karats Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
