About the icon
The Righteous fool for Christ
When her husband, Andrei Petrov, died suddenly without repentance, Xenia gave away her possessions, put on his clothes and answered to his name, living homeless on the streets of St Petersburg for some forty-five years. At night she prayed in the fields, and she secretly carried bricks for a church being built. She is buried at the Smolensk Cemetery and is commemorated on 24 January. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a carved panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
