About the icon
The Elders
Saint Paisios of Mount Athos counselled thousands from his cell on the Holy Mountain; Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia served for decades as a confessor in Athens; and Saint Jacob Tsalikis, abbot of the Monastery of Saint David in Evia, was known for his humility and healings. All three were canonised in recent years. They are commemorated on 12 July, 2 December and 22 November respectively. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
