About the icon
The Elder of Katounakia
As a young priest-monk Ephraim placed himself under the guidance of Saint Joseph the Hesychast, and his obedience became a model for later generations of monks. For most of his life he lived at Katounakia in the southern desert of the Holy Mountain, devoted to the Jesus Prayer and the Divine Liturgy, and many sought his counsel. He reposed on 27 February 1998 and was canonised by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2020. This Gallery Print reproduces the icon on a carved panel with a gold print finish.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Gold Print Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut and carved to the desired dimensions and shape, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the theme with the Gold Print background, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. The hand carved wood shape may have slight differences from the photos shown here. Small details as the Saint’s name and some decorative shapes are also made by hand. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
