About the icon
The Glorious Prophet & Forerunner
Son of Zacharias and Elizabeth, John lived in the wilderness and called the people to repentance, then baptised Christ in the Jordan and pointed Him out as the Lamb of God. Icons show him in a garment of camel's hair, often with a scroll, and in the Deesis he stands beside Christ in prayer for the world. His Synaxis on 7 January, the day after Theophany, is a name day for all named Ioannis and Ioanna. This Gallery Print reproduces the icon on a carved panel with a gold print finish.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Gold Print Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut and carved to the desired dimensions and shape, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the theme with the Gold Print background, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. The hand carved wood shape may have slight differences from the photos shown here. Small details as the Saint’s name and some decorative shapes are also made by hand. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
