About the icon
The Vine Ampelos and Source of Immortality
In the Gospel of John Christ says, 'I am the vine, you are the branches', for no one bears fruit apart from Him. The Ampelos icon shows the Lord at the centre of a vine, holding the Gospel and blessing, with the twelve apostles in the tendrils around Him. It speaks of the unity of the Church in Christ and of the Eucharist, and is a fitting icon for a family or new home. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.

I bought this icon for myself and I have it on my desk. It gives me a peaceful feeling and I pray when I glance at it, so I gave one to a friend and she really likes it. Her whole family loves it. They have small children and it could help evangelize them.
This is the most beautiful icon. I love the black background which highlights all of the figures. It has a very rich look to it. It is on my desk and when I look at it I feel drawn to prayer.
Unbelievably beautiful, I highly recommend!

Excellent colours on the icon. Arrived in a beautiful reusable case. Highly recommend. While you might be able to find some other excellent icons on Etsy, Alex's prices are quite hard to beat. Excellent quality gold icons for a reasonable price.
