About the icon
The Protectress of Russia (Kazanskaya)
After a great fire in Kazan, the Theotokos appeared in dreams to a young girl, Matrona, revealing where her icon lay buried among the ruins. It was found and venerated for its healings, and was later carried with the forces that freed Moscow in 1612. The icon shows the Virgin in half-figure with the Child standing before her, blessing. It is commemorated on 8 July and 22 October. In this Silver Relief the icon is presented in gold-plated silver relief on a panel.
This is an authentic Silver Plated artwork with Gold details, crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. The theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the printed theme on the prepared surface and then the Silver Plating, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
