About the icon
The Confessor & Defender of Orthodoxy in America
Born in what is now Slovakia and ordained a Greek Catholic priest, Father Alexis came to Minneapolis in 1889. Rejected by the local Roman Catholic archbishop, he returned with his parish to Orthodoxy in 1891 and spent the rest of his life preaching among immigrant communities, many of which followed him. He reposed in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1909, was glorified in 1994 and is commemorated on 7 May. Painted entirely by hand in tempera, this original is set on a recessed panel with a 24k gold leaf background.
This is a 100% Handwritten artwork crafted according to Byzantine technique and style, totally painted by hand with 24 karats Gold Leaves background. Once the theme is painted by our skilled craftsmen, a mounting point and the Certificate of Authenticity and Quality are installed at the back of the icon.
All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo. This icon is totally Handmade and though it may have very slight differences from the photos shown.
