The Archangel Michael is the most glorious and brilliant general of the bodiless Powers, who is set over all the heavenly armies. He is the defender of God's people. He wields a sword and delivers God's final judgment. In addition to his traditional armor, he was shown wearing a shield bearing the figure of an eagle with outstretched wings.
