About the icon
The Matriarch and Mother of the Promise
Sarah left her homeland with Abraham at God's call and shared his journeys in faith. When the three visitors came to Mamre she prepared bread for them and heard the promise of a son, laughing because she was old, and in due time Isaac was born. The Epistle to the Hebrews honours her faith. She is commemorated on the Sunday of the Forefathers, and her name is recalled in the Orthodox marriage service. Painted entirely by hand in tempera, this original is set on a flat panel with a deep blue background.
This is a 100% Handwritten artwork crafted according to Byzantine technique and style, totally painted by hand in a Colored Background with a 22k Gold Leaves Halo. Once the theme is painted by our skilled craftsmen, a mounting point and the Certificate of Authenticity and Quality are installed at the back of the icon.
