About the icon
The Theologian dictating the Revelation on Patmos
Exiled to Patmos, the Apostle John received the visions recorded in the Book of Revelation. The icon shows the aged apostle in the cave, turning towards the divine light that descends from heaven, while Prochorus, one of the seven deacons, sits and writes down his words. The Cave of the Apocalypse on Patmos is still a place of pilgrimage. Saint John is commemorated on 26 September and 8 May. In this Silver Relief the icon is presented in 999 silver with 24k gold relief on a carved panel.
