About the icon
The Martyr and Confessor
Natalia was a Christian married to Adrian, an officer in Nicomedia. Moved by the courage of the martyrs he was persecuting, Adrian confessed Christ and was imprisoned. Natalia visited him in prison, strengthened him in faith and stood by him to the end of his martyrdom, then preserved his relics. She died soon after, worn by her sufferings, and is commemorated with him on 26 August. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
