About the icon
The Archbishop of Myra & Wonderworker
Nicholas served as Archbishop of Myra in the fourth century and is remembered as a defender of the Orthodox faith and a tireless helper of those in need. Among the best-known stories is his secret gift of gold to save three young women from ruin. Icons show him as an elderly bishop with a short white beard, wearing an omophorion marked with crosses and holding the Gospel. He is commemorated on 6 December. Painted entirely by hand in tempera, this original is set on a flat panel with a 24k gold leaf background.
This is a 100% Handwritten artwork crafted according to Byzantine technique and style, totally painted by hand with 24 karats Gold Leaves background. Once the theme is painted, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the 24 karats Water Gilded Halo, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo. This icon is totally Handmade and though it may have very slight differences from the photos shown.
