About the icon
The Elder Prophet and Wonderworker of Mount Athos
Born Arsenios Eznepidis in Cappadocia in 1924 and baptised by Saint Arsenios, he became a monk on Mount Athos, where thousands sought his counsel. He reposed in 1994 and was buried at the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian at Souroti, near Thessaloniki. Canonised in 2015, he is commemorated on 12 July. Icons show him in monastic dress, often holding a prayer rope or a scroll with words of counsel. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel with a gold foil background.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Gold Foil with Gilding Effect on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
