About the icon
The Wonderworker Elder
Born in Kursk in the eighteenth century, Seraphim became a monk of Sarov and spent years in solitude in the forest, including a thousand nights in prayer on a rock. Later he received crowds of visitors, greeting each as 'my joy'. Icons often show him as a stooped elder with a staff, or kneeling in prayer on a rock. He is commemorated on 2 January, his repose, and on 19 July, the uncovering of his relics. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a recessed panel, its background laid by hand in matte gold leaf.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Matte Gold Leaves on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.

Hang the icon from the mounting point on its back, away from direct sunlight, radiators and damp walls. Gold leaf and painted colours keep best in steady, dry conditions.
