About the icon
The Righteous Ancestor of God (Progenitor) and Mother of the Theotokos
Anna and her husband Joachim remained childless until old age, when God answered their prayers with the birth of Mary, the future Mother of God. The Church celebrates the Conception of the Theotokos by Saint Anna on 9 December, honours Joachim and Anna together on 9 September and remembers her repose on 25 July. Icons often show her holding the infant Mary, and couples praying for a child turn to her. This Gallery Print reproduces the icon on a carved panel with a gold print finish.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Gold Print Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut and carved to the desired dimensions and shape, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the theme with the Gold Print background, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. The hand carved wood shape may have slight differences from the photos shown here. Small details as the Saint’s name and some decorative shapes are also made by hand. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.

Hang the icon from the mounting point on its back, away from direct sunlight, radiators and damp walls. Gold leaf and painted colours keep best in steady, dry conditions.
Dust it gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth. Never use water, sprays or cleaning products on the gold or the painted surface.
After a thorough quality inspection, your icon is placed in its black luxury icon case and secured with durable protective materials for the journey.
