Panagia Theotokos Vithleemitisa
In Bethlehem the faithful venerate the Mother of God at the place of the Nativity of Christ, and icons bearing the name Vithleemitissa carry that memory to churches and homes far away. She is shown holding her Son, tenderly presenting him to the world. The day after Christmas, 26 December, the Church honours her in the Synaxis of the Theotokos, a fitting day for this icon. This Museum Edition faithfully reproduces the icon on a raised panel with a gold foil background.
This is an authentic icon crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. All parts are made by hand and only the theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the natural wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the Gold Foil with Gilding Effect on the background. Then the theme is directly printed on the prepared surface, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
