About the icon
Panagia Theotokos Glikofilousa
This type belongs to the family of the Eleousa, icons of tenderness, and expresses the love between the Theotokos and her Son, and through them between God and humanity. The best known Glykofilousa is kept at Philotheou Monastery on Mount Athos, saved by tradition from the iconoclasts by being cast into the sea. It is a fitting icon for a wedding, a new family or a mother and child. In this Silver Relief the icon is presented in gold-plated silver relief on a panel.
This is an authentic Silver Plated artwork with Gold details, crafted according to Byzantine technique and style. The theme is reproduced using Advanced Museum Standards Technique.
Once the wood panel is cut to the desired dimensions, our skilled craftsmen meticulously apply the printed theme on the prepared surface and then the Silver Plating, resulting to an exquisite work of art.
At the back of the icon, a mounting point is installed, accompanied by our Certificate of Authenticity and Quality. At the small sized icons a stand is also available. All of our artworks bear the studio’s distinctive title and logo.
A thorough quality inspection takes place before we secure the package with durable protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
